City Guides: Longway California's Guide to West Marin

We tapped our friend Kris—founder of Longway California—for her guide to the neighborhood around their flagship store in San Anselmo, CA. We’re big fans of the utilitarian, quality basics that Longway makes, and can't wait to head over to check out the new coffee shop build out. Leave it to Kris to have the best recommendations for their corner of Marin County!

WHERE TO EAT

Voyage

Hanging out at Voyage feels like being transported to a bar on the coast of Spain or Italy. We love their small bites, large plates, and bottle list—you really can’t go wrong with anything!

Village Sake

This sweet spot in Fairfax was just featured in the Michelin Guide 2024! Chef Scott Whitman grew up in Marin County, has earned Michelin Stars and culinary medals, as well as a few stints in the James Beard house.

Stillwater

Love this seasonal spot in Fairfax at any time of year. The interior is warm, cozy, and super inviting.

Amelie

There's one in SF, one in NYC, and now one in West Marin! Amelie brings a little bit of Paris to West Marin.

The Baan Thai

Kientz Hall

Love the indoor/outdoor feel of this Cal-Mediterranean restaurant.

WHERE TO BUY BOTTLES TO GO

Souvenir

Where we first discovered Martha Stoumen Wines! This warm, inviting bottle shop is just a skip away from Longway's flagship, which makes a fun (maybe too fun!) dash over for new bottles to sip. They're the kindest!

Ludwig's

For a more traditional bottle shop offering, Ludwig's does the trick! They also have a great collection of spirits.

WHERE TO SHOP

Longway

Of course!! I'm not much of a shopper, surprisingly, but I do I love vintage and have a few neighborhood favorites I always check out!

Abbott Kinney

Beach House

THINGS TO DO

Hike!

I am a huge trail fan. I love hiking and running the trails in Marin. If I have an extra moment, I'll do the loop at Tennessee Valley, but sometimes I just start on the ridge behind my house and run from San Anselmo through Ross or Fairfax. It's amazing seeing how everything fits together via trail.
