Martha's Holiday 2023 Gift Guide

A ROUND UP OF COVETED PIECES, DAILY USE ITEMS, AND BEAUTIFUL OBJECTS FOR GIFTING, CURATED BY MARTHA

• LOCAL BUSINESS GIFT CARD // $25+

For your long distance friends! If you’re unable to see loved ones over the holidays, a gift card to their favorite local shop is a great way to send holiday cheer from afar. For Bay Area recs, we love Case for Making, Bernal Cutlery, Omnivore Books, and most obviously, Martha Stoumen Wines.

DIASPORA CO. BUILD YOUR OWN SPICE RACK // $30+

I LOVE local Bay Area-based Diaspora Co., and I always tell my friends that you haven’t tasted black pepper until you’ve tasted theirs. I’d get a 3 pack with black pepper, pink garlic, and turmeric. You won’t go back to grocery store spices, I promise! This is the perfect gift for your friend that fashions themselves a bit of the Alison Roman-type. If you’re unsure what they’d use the most, you can grab everything in our Mulled Wine recipe (and a bottle of Ricetti Carignan, of course!)

RANCHO GORDO BEAN BOX // $34

Niche gift? Maybe so, but having fresh heirloom beans on hand is seriously underrated. Stew a pot of beans in ceramic earthenware on the stove and enjoy a glass of Venturi Carignan.

EVERYDAY OIL // $24-52

Less, but better—love a multifunctional product and this one smells just like California. Use it as a body moisturizer, to take your makeup off, as a little dab of perfume—it’s perfect for the person you know that’s always on the go.

KELLY SHIMODA HANGING ART PIECE // $72+

Kelly gifted me a piece—a dish—and it’s still one of my favorite things to look at and touch in my home. Everything she makes is just gorgeous, and I've had my eye on the hanging art pieces for a long while. There’s no better feeling than filling your home with the work of local makers, and any friend who loves supporting small businesses would certainly agree!

GIFTWORTHY: NERO D’AVOLA LIBRARY RELEASE // $88+

I feel so lucky to be one of very few producers working with Nero d’Avola in California. I feel especially lucky to have been able to store a few bottles for aging—something not all small producers are able to do, financially. This 2018 Nero d’Avola is drinking just beautifully right now, and I think it will age well for another 5 years. It makes a great gift for parents or in-laws.

LE CREUSET ROUND DUTCH OVEN // $250+

The dutch oven is one of the most used items in our kitchen, hands down. A good dutch oven is so worth the investment. Test your own wine and recipe pairings— just be sure to submit any favorites to 'What’s Cooking?'!

CAROLYNN HAYDU ORIGINAL // Varies (priceless)

It’s no secret that I love Carolynn’s artwork—we are lucky enough to own an original and it's proudly the #1 conversation starter in our home. Inquire about the artwork from your favorite bottle to immortalize it.
